When attempting to migrate archive mailboxes, you may encounter the following error:
"The specified folder could not be found in the store."
This error typically occurs when the archive mailbox for a user is not enabled before the migration is initiated. Migration operations expect the archive mailbox to exist, and if it does not, the folder structure referenced during the migration process cannot be found—resulting in the error.
This error can occur at both source and target during a migration.

Cause
The error indicates that the specified folder (usually the archive mailbox) is missing or not accessible. Most often, this happens because the archive mailbox is not enabled for the affected user account.
Resolution
For Exchange Server (On-Premises):
To fix the issue, enable the Archive Mailbox for the user via the Exchange Admin Center (EAC):
Steps to Enable Archive Mailbox in Exchange Admin Center (EAC):
- Log in to the Exchange Admin Center (EAC).
- In the left-hand navigation pane, go to Recipients.
- Click on the Mailboxes tab.
- Find and select the affected user from the mailbox list.
- On the right-hand side panel, click Enable under the In-Place Archive section.

- Confirm the action if prompted.

Once the archive mailbox is enabled, restart the migration process.
For Microsoft 365:
Steps to Enable Archive Mailbox via Exchange Admin Center (EAC):
- Log in to the Exchange Admin Center (EAC).
- In the left-hand panel, go to Recipients.
- Click the Mailboxes tab.

- Find and select the user.

- On the right-hand panel, click Others.
- Click Manage mailbox archive.

- Click Enable.
Additional Notes
- Archive mailbox creation may take a few minutes to reflect across all services.
- Ensure you have the required permissions in Exchange to enable archive mailboxes.
- If the issue persists after enabling, consider restarting the Exchange Management services or checking mailbox accessibility via PowerShell.
